Kelly Carella Head Coach

Hello Willows Swim Team!My name is Kelly Carella and I am looking forward to coming back to the Willows Swim Team as one of your coaches this year! My husband, Mike, and I live in East Windsor with our two kids, Brayden (9) and McKenzie (7).Although the 2019 season was the first swim season for Brayden and McKenzie, I am no stranger to South Brunswick, the team, or coaching! As a child I grew up LIVING at the Willows Swim Club! Starting at the age of 8, I was a member of the team every summer until I graduated from Rutgers Prep (where I also swam) in 2000. After graduation I became an Assistant Coach, and later Head Coach, of the Willows Swim Team while I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. There I studied Elementary Education and Psychology. While at FDU I also swam all 4 years and was the Assistant Coach during my Graduate year.

From 2005 - 2011 I was a Kindergarten teacher at Brunswick Acres School--a job I LOVED!! Helping young children learn and grow academically, emotionally, and socially was a passion of mine. Once I had a couple years of teaching experience under my belt, I signed on to become an Assistant Coach of the Notre Dame HS Swim Team from 2008 - 2011.I am excited to help your children reach their goals, form a love of swimming, bond with their teammates, create new friendships and, of course, HAVE FUN! I can’t wait to get to know all of you, so please reach out whenever you need to! Together, I am confident we are going to have an awesome Summer Swim Season! Go Willows!

Reilly Hazard Assistant Coach

Hi everyone! My name is Reilly Hazard and I am so excited to be returning to the Willows, but this time as a coach! I currently attend the University of Connecticut where I study Actuarial Science. In my free time, I love to waterski, travel, read, and play with my yellow labrador, Lacy.

I began competitively swimming on the Willows at the age of four, and swam for both the Willows and the RAYS through last year. I was also the captain of my high school team at Pinkerton Academy. I hold three Willows records and broke two high school records at PA.Currently, I swim for the UConn Club Swim Team, and swam 50 back, 100 back, and two relays at College Club Nationals this past season. I started coaching in August 2022 for the RAYS,became a USA Swimming Certified Coach, and now coach for the SAQ team that practices out of Storrs, CT. In addition to coaching, I teach swim lessons and lifeguard year-round.

While I live in NH, I come to NJ every summer and always look forward to the summer swim season. The Willows team community and atmosphere are so special to me, and I am looking forward to fostering a supportive environment and love for swimming that your kids will always cherish.

Emma Hazard Assistant Coach

Hi Willows Swim Team! I’m Coach Emma and I am beyond excited to be one of your coaches this summer! I am from Derry, New Hampshire and I spend every summer here in South Brunswick with my grandparents. This year, I attended my freshman year at the University of Connecticut studying Allied Health Science, where I was on the club swim team. I love reading, eating acai bowls on the beach, and doing anything outdoors!

I started swimming for the Willows when I was just 4 years old. I returned every summer for 13 years and I loved every minute. Fun fact- I hold 8 pool records! Back home in NH, I swam for my club team the RAYS for 13 years, where I was state champion in 50 freestyle. I swam for my high school team from 2019-2023, where I discovered the 200 free as my favorite event.

The Willows has always felt like home to me in the summer, and I can’t wait to share this with young swimmers. Let’s have a fun season, and go Willows!
